On Friday, October 4, 2024, African Diaspora Council (ADC), celebrated its “8th Annual School Supply Drive,” with a brief ceremony before delivering school supplies on the UW-Milwaukee campus.

They are very happy to announce that with the success of the previous years, they have provided almost $10,000 worth of school supplies, personal hygiene items, and art supplies to not only LaFollette Elementary, but Hopkins-Lloyd Community and Fifty-Third Street Elementary schools.

In 2017, the African Diaspora Council spearheaded their first annual school supply drive to assist schools in one of the most economically challenged areas in the city.

The ADC worked to ease some of the financial burden of their inaugural school, LaFollette Elementary.

In the past, LaFollette’s school parents and teachers had struggled with providing the basic tools students desperately needed for a successful school year.

Through the generous support of ADC members, the UWM community and an external partners, the students and teachers of LaFollette Elementary had school supplies available throughout the academic year.
