On Saturday, August 24, 2024, the African American Breastfeeding Network (AABN) hosted its “10th Annual Lift Up Every Baby!” (LUEB) celebration at the beautiful Heritage Green Park, at N. 62nd St. and Custer Ave. This year’s theme, “Growing Stronger Together,” emphasized the crucial intersection of birth and community, and a decade of the group’s collective commitment to improving maternal-infant health and advance equity. The event kicked off with the “Red Bike and Green Bike Riders Parade” into the park, and continued with an official opening ceremony to ‘lift up’ all babies and embrace pregnant mothers; and culminated with a community dinner and baby shower. Other activities included a father/ partner circle, kids’ zone, health/wellness stations, and a community connectors resource area. This year’s event hosted more than 150 expecting mothers and first-time families who attended this year.
