Quick question: Do you know what the “worst drug” is? Or if smoking traditional cigarettes is worse for you than vaping? Or if marijuana can be used as medicine?
It would be really helpful to know the answers to these questions, since they’re some of the most common questions that young people ask about substances like drugs and alcohol.
You don’t need to fumble around for an answer. The RISE Drug Free MKE coalition is holding Light & Unite Red Week during National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week, March 18 – March 24, 2024 to make sure that everyone, even our youth, can tell myths from facts about substances.
During Light & United Red Week, organizations throughout Milwaukee County will organize activities to provide information and resources to help all of us live healthier lives free from substance misuse.
RISE Drug Free MKE coalition partners, with the support of Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Services, is offering a mix of enlightening events and activities to show our support for substance- free living Milwaukee County, especially for our youth.
For youth and young adults, there are activities at Safe & Sound, Pathfinders, and Dominican Center. Community events include the South Shore Resource Fair, webinars from Community Advocates Public Policy Institute, and lighting the Hoan Bridge red on March 20 to demonstrate the community’s support for people who are living great lives without substances, most especially people who are in treatment or recovery.
We’re hoping you can join one or all of these events to help us put an end to substance misuse.
