On Thursday, March 24, 2022, the American Heart Association and Ascension Healthcare hosted a luncheon to announce the American Heart Association’s new high blood pressure management program called Check. Change. Control. (CCC) at Ebenezer Church of God in Christ, 3132 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. CCC is an evidence-based high blood pressure management program created by the American Heart Association. The program empowers participants to take charge of their heart health by self-motoring their blood pressure. The prevalence of high blood pressure among Black people in the United States is among the highest in the world. About 55 percent of Black adults have high blood pressure, also known as hypertension or HBP. Black people also have disproportionately high rates of more severe HBP and it develops earlier in life.
