Keep your students busy and learning on their off school days by attending Winter Adventure Days! Hosted at the Urban Ecology Center, children can enjoy outdoor winter activities, learn about wildlife, and explore. Winter Adventure Days are free and are designed for students in grades 1 to 6.
Students won’t even realize they are leaning when they take part in outdoor play, games, crafts, and more. Participants can enjoy a winter hike, observe the Milwaukee River, and search for birds and animals that are active in winter.
Two dates and themes are available for winter 2020.
• Monday, January 20: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
• Monday, February 17: Winter Sports (snowshoeing and cross-country skiing)
Both events are hosted at the Riverside Park Urban Ecology Center, 1500 E. Park Place, Milwaukee, WI 53211.
Families will need to provide transportation to and from the location. Students should bring a bag lunch and dress appropriately for outdoor activities.
Priority registration will be given to students enrolled in MPS and students who have not previously attended an outdoor adventure. Space is limited, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis as completed forms are received. Program descriptions and enrollment packets are available on the MPS website at http://mps.milwaukee.k12.wi.us/en/Programs/ExtendedLearningOpportunities/Enrichment-Camps-.htm
Families must complete all portions of the registration packet and return to the MPS Department of Extended Learning Opportunities. Packets can be scanned and emailed to elo@milwaukee.k12.wi.us OR packets can be mailed or dropped off at MPS Central Services Room 150, 5225 W. Vliet St., Milwaukee, WI 53208.
