On the heels of the snow that arrived in Milwaukee on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, new winter coats were distributed to children at H. W. Longfellow School on Thursday, November 17, just in time for the coldest week of the season. Volunteers from FedEx arrived with dozens of boxes of new coats in all sizes and colors and took time to match students with winter gear.
Because many children walk to school or wait at bus stops, warm clothing is essential for their safety. “We are extremely grateful for this donation that will help keep our children warm this winter,” said Longfellow Principal Rosa Cerda. “The students were excited to choose a coat, try it on, and wear it home.”
FedEx Cares has partnered with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit that manufactures brand-new, high-quality coats and shoes for children. This November and December, FedEx will ship more than 18,000 coats to 38 schools across North America. Since 2008, this collaboration has provided more than 957,000 coats to kids across the U.S. and Canada.
On behalf of all the Longfellow students and families, thank you to FedEx and Operation Warm! H. W. Longfellow School is located at 1021 S. 21st St. in Milwaukee.
