Tickets For “McDonald’s Praise For Peace” Are Now Free Thanks To Marcus Center And Other Local Sponsors


MILWAUKEE (August 18, 2016) – For more than a year, McDonald’s Restaurants of Southeastern Wisconsin and the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts have been planning a celebration of Gospel music for Saturday, August 27. Titled “Praise for Peace,” the concert is taking on new significance as the Milwaukee community begins to heal following the recent events that attracted national news attention.

In an effort to make the concert as accessible as possible to everyone in the community, McDonald’s, the Marcus Center and other community partners have now underwritten 100 percent of the ticket costs. Originally priced at $12, tickets for the concert are now available FREE in person at the Marcus Center box office. Call the Box Office at (414) 273-7206 with any questions.

“Praise for Peace” features some of the biggest names in modern gospel music. Led by Bishop William Murphy, III, the concert will also feature the talents of the Shekinah Glory Ministry, Charlin Neal and Marlon Lock. Held in Uihlein Hall at the Marcus Center, doors will open at 5 p.m. and the musical celebration will start at 6.

“Praise for Peace is a first step in bringing our community together,” said Robert Pyles, pastor of Abundant Faith Church of Integrity, 7830 Good Hope Road, and owner of 16 McDonald’s restaurants.  “And, now the tickets are free so that we do not have to turn away anyone based on their inability to pay.”

Sponsors enthusiastically came to the table earlier this week to ensure that ticket costs would be covered. Besides McDonald’s and the Marcus Center, sponsors include Coca-Cola, Dr. Pepper, WJMR-FM 98.3, A-1 Services, Designer Furniture on Consignment, Dreamland Childcare Center, Leaders Luxury Motors, Mize Houser & Company P.A., The New Pitts Mortuary, Harry C. Glinberg Jewelers, Darren Moore, Mark Wade, Debbie Allen and MacPyles Corporation.

When it was originally announced in early July, “Praise for Peace” was intended solely as a fundraiser for the Milwaukee Ronald McDonald House.

“The focus was always about the importance of coming together to make a difference and giving back to the community,” said Pyles. “It still is. In light of last weekend’s events, it’s even more important for all segments of the Milwaukee community to come together, join hands and rebuild our community.”

Concertgoers will still have the opportunity to learn about the Ronald McDonald House and the important role it plays in helping families heal and thrive in Milwaukee and worldwide. Attendees also will be encouraged to support Milwaukee’s Ronald McDonald House, located near Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, by donating on the night of the event.

“This night is going to be a night to celebrate all that is good in our community,” added Pyles.
