‘A Time to Honor,’ a celebration for Dr. Louise A. Morman

Family members, friends and leaders of Canaan
Baptist Church 2975 N. 11th St., gathered around Dr.
Louise A. Morman (seated) on Sunday, October 9, 2016
during a day of celebration for her 60 years of ministry
to the church at the local, state and national level.
Among the many positions she has held or continues
to hold at Canaan Church are Deaconess, Outreach
Officer, Administrative Coordinator and Food Pantry:
Share Program. She has served as Director of Christian
Education for 32 years. She is also Canaan Church’s
Director of Membership Services reporting directly to
Rev. Dr. Frederick E. Jones. In 1963, Dr. Morman received
certified accreditation as an instructor in Christian
education from the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A.
For the next 20 years, she completed numerous other
certification classes in subjects including Christian
education, missionary education, planning and leading
worship and conducting church business meetings. She
also visited the Holy Land twice as part of a tour with
the Sunday School Publishing Board led by Dr. Amos Jones.
