WI General Baptist State Convention elects President Evans to second term

August 25, 2022

Wisconsin General State Convention, Inc., and Congress of Christian Education officers and staff.
President Keith T. Evans

The 98th Annual Session of the Wisconsin General Baptist State Convention, Inc., held its joint session with the WGBS Congress of CE at Christ The King Baptist Church where Reverend John McVicker serves as pastor during the week of August 8-11, 2022. The theme was “Reaching Our Potential, and New Possibilities through the Power of God,” (Isaiah 43:19 and Philippians 3:13-14.) According to the Congress President, Reverend James Ivy of Beloit and Congress Dean, Mrs. Emma Brooks, the Congress met in-person for the first time in two years with 133 delegates in attendance, and children and youth met in their respective classes in the evening. The Pastors and Ministers Division met mornings and afternoons for seminars, lectures, and sermons.

The convention concluded with the Annual Address of Reverend Keith T. Evans, Convention President and Pastor of Greater Mt. Eagle Baptist Church, Racine, WI. During his address he reported that the Board of Directors approved and recommended supporting the global mission project of “So Send I You” with a $5,000 gift to build and repair facilities in the continent of Africa, and to allocate $5,000 towards this school year’s scholarships. Another gift of $5,000 was received from an anonymous donor to match the $5,000 allocation bringing the total to $10,000 towards scholarships from the Wisconsin General Baptist State Convention. Following President Evans’ report and sermon, the convention voted to re-elect him to a second term.
