On Thursday, May 14, 2026, the Greater Milwaukee Urban League hosted its “S.T.E.A.M. n2 Careers Summit” at Discovery World in downtown Milwaukee. From hands-on experiments to face-to-face conversations with industry professionals, the Summit delivered a full day of immersive learning opportunities in science, technology, engineering, arts, agriculture, and mathematics. For many students, it was their first direct encounter with professionals that work in these career fields.
Three Milwaukee schools that participate in Greater Milwaukee Urban League’s national Project Ready program sent students ranging from fifth grade through high school to engage in the day’s activities, including Lynde and Harry Bradley Technology and Trade School, Dr. George Washington Carver Academy of Mathematics and Science, and Oliver Wendell Holmes School. In total more than 100 students participated in the event.
A remarkable coalition of Milwaukee companies and institutions brought the S.T.E.A.M. experience to life, including Discovery World, Gilbane Construction, MilliporeSigma, Milwaukee Building Construction Trade Council, Odom Investments, and TMJ4 News. Those representative industry professionals were eager to invest in the next generation of Milwaukee’s innovators, engineers, and leaders.
“This is exactly the kind of investment that changes the trajectory of young people’s lives. When students get to work alongside professionals, use tools they’ve never touched, and step into spaces that they do not experience on a daily basis, students begin to believe the future can be theirs” said Greater Milwaukee Urban League President and CEO Dr. Eve M. Hall.
