Remembering Mother Nealie Daniels Sims

March 13, 2025

Born in Sherrill, Arkansas on January 30, 1938, and spending her adult life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, departed this life bound for her heavenly home on Friday, February 21, 2025.

She was happily married to Reverend Dr. Donnie Sims in 1956, having a remarkable love story that would last for more than 60 years. In 1957, Mother Nealie Daniels Sims co-founded the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Milwaukee, WI, serving as First Lady and Co-Pastor, and as a great support to her husband Reverend Dr. Donnie Sims.

Mother Nealie Sims attended Milwaukee Area Technical College and later attended Alverno College and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She worked at the original St. Mary’s Hospital as a Registered Nurse, and later worked at the City of Milwaukee Health Department as a health nurse – retiring after 20 years.

Mother Nealie Daniels Sims was preceded in death by her loving husband Reverned Dr. Donnie Sims, their son Pastor Terrance Sims, daughter Sharon Anthony, granddaughter Ashawnti Terry, parents Bonnie and Burnestine Davis Daniels, two sisters – Beatrice Daniels (Vernon), Vellar Reynolds (Asa), her brother’s Joseph Bonnie Davis, Archie Daniels, Ernest Daniels, Preston Daniels, Hester Daniels, Lonnie B. Daniels and Albert Lee Daniels and one infant sister.

She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy, five children – Sandra Sims (Joseph), Donald Sims (Doris), Antoinette Michelle Pitts Luckett (Nate), Penny Sims, Christopher Sims, 25 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 1 greatgreat- grandchild, brother Sylvester Daniels (Nadine) and Sister Burnestine Watkins.
