Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and the NFL will host an Officiating Academy on Saturday, July 25 at Bradley Tech High School from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to receive officiating instruction from the NFL, college and high school officials.
The academy is open to men and women ages 17 to 30. No experience is necessary and space is limited. Registration is available online at nflofficiating.com. Participants will receive a confirmation email with additional information at a later date.
“We’re grateful to be able to team with the NFL to continue to strengthen football programs for our students by increasing the number of qualified officials,” MPS sports manager Russell Thomas said.
Attendees will be introduced to the rules of the game, on-field officiating mechanics and tips on how to become an official. Classroom instruction will take place in the morning and the afternoon will include on-the-field training.
“Investing in officiating at the grassroots level is investing in our future,” said Dean Blandino, NFL vice president of officiating. “The officials we help develop today will be the NFL officials of tomorrow.”
Lunch will feature networking opportunities with NFL, college and high school officials.
