Geraldine Daniel
Geraldine Daniel, R.N.
Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin

Geraldine Daniel is a dedicated nurse, teacher, as well as founder of God Given Treasures Youth Ministry. She is currently the only Black licensed practicing nurse working for the Community Health Program of Children’s Hospital. For her, nursing isn’t just a career; it’s her calling. Those who know her can affirm that she is a nurse at heart. She has been a caretaker for as far back as she can remember. From broken dolls to injured animals, Geri tried to fix them all. During her early adulthood, she found herself always caring for sick relatives and friends, and loving it.

As a graduate of Marquette University Upward Bound Program and West Division High School (now Milwaukee High School of the Arts) in 1977, Geraldine enrolled in the Medical Assistance Program at Concordia College. She was one of the last graduating students in the class of 1982. After her graduating class, Concordia College closed the doors to State Street and Highland Boulevard location in Milwaukee for good and reopened in Mequon.

Geraldine worked as a medical assistant at Family Healthcare from 1982 to 1997. While working at Family Healthcare, she, along with her daughter, studied nursing at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). Her daughter changed her career to financial services and Geraldine graduated from the nursing program in 1994.

Geraldine has worked for Children’s Hospital since 1989. As Community Health Program Assistant/ School Nurse, she is stationed at LaFollette K-8 School. She travels to 12 schools teaching health to 7th and 8th graders.

Geraldine has been a member of Mason Temple Church of God in Christ for 16 years. At her church, she is on the health and wellness committee; the nurses unit, hospitality unit, a youth bible study instructor, and the cultural competency committee. She is also on the cultural competency committee at Children’s Hospital and is a member of the Black Nurses Association.

Although her youth ministry, God Given Treasures, is currently in the beginning stages, future plans include getting it up and running. Geraldine is committed and devoted to providing excellent care to others.
