Remembering John A. Triggs

John Triggs (1939-2025), born to sharecroppers in Canton, Mississippi, passed away on February 5, 2025. After moving to Milwaukee in 1955, he became the county’s first African American wrestler and excelled in football. A dedicated member of Northwest SDA Church, John worked at Pabst Brewery until his retirement in the 1990s. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, traveling, and volunteering, where he met his wife Matrivee Webster- Triggs. John was preceded in death by his parents, former wife Cartha, three brothers, and sister. He is survived by his wife Matrivee, daughters Kimberlyn and Karla, six grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three sisters, and extended family. His legacy of faith, strength, and service will be remembered by all who knew him.
