Local law officials, along with cousins of Alexis Patterson who was abducted while enroute to Hi Mount School 11 years ago was remembered on Friday, May 3, 2013. “It’s amazing how Alexis just dropped of the face of the earth and nobody knows where she is. To have been abducted, someone had to be watching her when she was brought to school. I keep believing she will come home one day,” said Gloria William, a cousin. Other cousins pictured above are: Shahara Killebew, Lisa Hinton and Frank Johnson the grandfather of Alexis. A wreath was hung at the site from which Alexis was abducted.
Rev. Dr. Hugh Davis celebrates 23 years of pastoral service
Rev. Dr. Hugh and Sister Carolyn Davis of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 1717 W. Meinecke Avenue, observed their 23rd Pastor and Wife’s Anniversary on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. “Working for the Lord,” (John 9:4) was the program theme. Pastor and Mrs. Davis were escorted by Brother Edward and Lorria Hudson. The guest speaker was Pastor John C. Hughes of New King of King’s Baptist Church. Evangelist Betty Simpson was Master of Ceremony and Sister Giversteen Henry was the Anniversary Chairperson. Members of the Love Committee were: Sister Mae Brown, President; Sister Katherine Peoples, Treasurer; Sister Mae Bynum, Secretary; and Sister Carolyn Bell, Mother Ethel Davis and Sister Doris Black.

Member churches of The General Baptist State Convention of Wisconsin, Inc., held their 88th Bi-Annual Board Session April 15 – 18, 2013 nightly at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, 2975 N. 11th Street. ”Working together in Unity to Fulfill God’s Purpose” (2 Corinthians 5:17-18) is their five year theme. The Parent Body was in charge of the Thursday, April 18, 2013 program. Pastor Steven Harris of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church was the keynote speaker.
