‘Well Mommy and Baby’ event celebrates ‘Bronzeville Week’ and ‘National Breastfeeding Awareness Month’

On Saturday, August 7, 2021, the African American Breastfeeding Network (AABN) hosted the “Well Mommy and Baby Care Package Drive-Up,” at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 2207 N. 2nd St. The drive-up event celebrated not only “Bronzeville Week” but also “National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.”
Expectant and new mothers drove up to receive care packages that would help both them and their new child get off on a good and healthy start. The event was organized by AABN Executive Director Dalvery Blackwell (left photo, second from left) and featured volunteers from Mt. Zion Baptist Church and even Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs (left photo, third from right) joined in to lend a hand.
