The North Central Service Club was founded by Marlene Narcisse Johnson and Mildred Harpole, who recognized the need for African American women to become involved in community service within the central city; and to provide a reservoir of leadership to effect positive change. The organization aims to develop civic, educational, social, and cultural programs which can improve the quality of life for central city women. Mildred Harpole is the founding president and Pamela Malone (top photo) serves as president.
