On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, New Testament Christian Academy hosted their 3rd Annual Booker T. Washington Essay Contest at their school, 10201 W. Bradley Rd. The essay contest was sponsored by Professor Edie Adekunle-Wilson, a Booker T. Washington Society representative.
For the past four weeks the students at New Testament have read and discussed “Booker T. Washington: An American Hero,” and then wrote a 250 to 500 word essay on the great African American educator, author, orator, and presidential advisor. The students then read their essays out loud for the judges and were awarded certificates with the winners receiving $100, $50 and $25 respectively.
