NAACP Youth Council welcomes new officers

July 19, 2018

The NAACP Youth Council starts the new year with newly elected officers. The Youth Council meets at 1 p.m. on the second Saturday of the month at Cross Lutheran Church. This year’s officers are (from left) President Isaiah L. Bell; Vice President Lailaa Muhammad; Treasurer Matthew Goss; and Secretary Akilah Muhammad. Milwaukee youth who are interested in advocating for issues that substantially affect young people are invited to join the NAACP Youth Council.

Additionally, congratulations go to Milwaukee NAACP Youth Council Vice President Lailaa Muhammad, who was awarded a scholarship to attend the 109th NAACP National Convention held July 14 to July 18 in San Antonio, TX. Lailaa’s success was based upon her timely essay concerning several current issues. In addition to her position with the Youth Council, Lailaa is a honor student at Rufus King High School, where she plays alto saxophone in the jazz band and the marching band. Good job!
