MPS students in need to receive free eyeglasses thanks to Wisconsin Vision in partnership with MTEA

April 17, 2014

DSC_0284Students in need at Milwaukee Public Schools’ Hopkins Lloyd Community School were fitted for free eyeglasses Wednesday, April 2, 2014, thanks to the generosity of Wisconsin Vision and its partnership with the Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association.
Nearly all students at Hopkins Lloyd — approximately 98 percent — come from families whose income is low enough to qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
Students at the school who had not yet had their vision screened this school year received free screenings in February thanks to Wisconsin Vision and Prevent Blindness Wisconsin, with the support of volunteers from the school and MTEA. Now, students who need eyeglasses will be fitted for a free pair by Wisconsin Vision.
