On Saturday, October 1, 2022, the Milwaukee hosted the Miami Marlins at American Family Field. As part of the festivities Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson threw out the ceremonial first pitch to kick off the game. Though the mayor did a commendable job throwing out the first pitch, the Brewers on the other hand blew a ninth-inning lead. Thus the Brewers squandered a great opportunity to pull even in the race for the final National League playoff spot, losing to the Miami Marlins 4-3 on Saturday night. It has been an interesting season for the Brewers and Milwaukee wishes them luck next year!
Currently the playoffs are set with the first games starting on Friday, October 7, 2022. In the National League the match-ups look like this:
Byes: No. 1 Los Angeles Dodgers and No. 2 Atlanta Braves
Wild Card Series: No. 5. San Diego Padres at No. 4 New York Mets
Wild Card Series: No. 6. Philadelphia Phillies at No. 3 St. Louis Cardinals
There isn’t re-seeding after the first round. It’s a locked bracket, so the winner of the Padres-Mets gets the Dodgers in the NLDS while the winner of the Phillies-Cardinals series gets the defending champion Braves.
The individual game times haven’t been assigned yet, but we know all four Wild Card Series will be played Friday, Saturday and, if necessary, the clinching Game 3 would be played Sunday.
