On Thursday, June 30, 2022, construction began on ThriveOn, a collaboration between Greater Milwaukee Foundation (GMF), the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) and the Royal Capital Group (RCG). The collaborative is dedicated to eliminating racial, health, economic and social disparities in Milwaukee by making generational investments in the well-being of its communities. As part of that mission, ThriveOn is in the process of restoring and re-purposing the former Gimbels-Schuster’s building at 2153 N. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Drive. ThriveOn celebrated the commencing of construction with the removal of the metal cladding that currently covers most of the building.
