
On Friday, February 7, 2020, the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center hosted its “21st Annual Salute to the African American Veteran,” at the Medical Center, 5000 W. National Ave. The recognition ceremony was part of the center’s Black History month program. This year’s theme was, ” Trials and Triumphs: Balancing the Journey from Soldier to Citizen in an Uneven World.” This event also celebrated the 157th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. Pastor Rayvon Bufkin, Sr., a Vietnam veteran, was the keynote speaker. As part of the celebration four veterans were honored at the event.
