On Friday, December 13, 2013, Mayor Tom Barrett and Wisconsin Community Service Associate Executive Director Clarence Johnson, joined workers who have participated in the WCS/Milwaukee Public Works partnership at the Department of Public Works Central Garage, located at 2142 W. Canal Street. The City of Milwaukee has worked with Wisconsin Community Services to provide jobs on a short-term basis for dozens of people coming out of the criminal justice system. These people have worked hard and worked reliably in support of DPW clean-up efforts in the spring and fall. This program is one of a number of city efforts to connect people disproportionately affected by unemployment and the economic downturn with jobs.
