City of Milwaukee to host career fair at City Hall

May 18, 2023

Job seekers to meet with department representatives, can apply onsite

The City of Milwaukee is hosting a Career Fair on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the City Hall Rotunda, located at 200 E. Wells Street. This is the first in-person career fair at City Hall since prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

Milwaukee job and skill seekers can learn about current job openings within the City of Milwaukee.

Representatives from 15 departments, will be on-hand to answer questions, including Public Works, Health, Public Library, Neighborhood Services, Water Works, Fire and Police.

Dozens of job opportunities are available, from entry- level to professional careers, in the following areas: labor, water works, public health, customer service, safety, urban planning, accounting, and more.

“There are numerous family- supporting jobs available right here in City of Milwaukee government, from entry level, up. The City of Milwaukee relies on talented individuals right here in our community. Come out, ask questions, and see if there is the right job for you as we work together to make Milwaukee a better place!” said Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson.

Job seekers can also apply onsite at City Hall; computers will be available for use. Human Resources representatives will be there to assist with applications. All prospective City employees must fill out an online application on the City’s Online Employment Center. Allowing job seekers to apply onsite eliminates the hurdles to applying for City employment and gets them one step further in the hiring process.

“We’re extremely excited about the streamlining of our hiring processes – we’re looking to get folks employed as quickly as possible. We’re proud to employ a diverse and inclusive workforce that is committed to providing exemplary service to City residents. We want to make applying for City jobs as easy as possible and answer any questions job seekers may have,” said Department of Employee Relations Director Harper Donahue, IV.

Participants can also attend various workshops to learn about what it’s like to work for the City of Milwaukee.

Break-out sessions include:
• City Benefits Q&A
• How to Obtain a CDL
• Career Paths within the City of Milwaukee
• Careers in Urban Forestry and Code Enforcement

The Career Fair is sponsored by Pete’s Fruit Market and attendees can take home fresh fruit for free.

A list of the City of Milwaukee’s Current Employment Opportunities, and a description of each job title, can be found at Milwaukee.gov/jobs.

Registration is encouraged. The event is open to the public. For more information on the City of Milwaukee Career Fair and to RSVP, go to Milwaukee.gov/careerfair
