On Sunday, January 15, 2023, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® (AKA) Epsilon Kappa Omega (EKΩ) Milwaukee Chapter celebrated the 115th anniversary of their sorority by lighting the Hoan Bridge. Nearly 200 of the 385 members of the Epsilon Kappa Omega Milwaukee Chapter showed up for the bridge lighting. EKΩ Chapter is the first alumnae chapter that was chartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 11, 1949. Since its inception, the chapter has made significant strides in Milwaukee with award-winning programs for K-12 students, preparatory workshops for parents and their college-bound children, and community enrichment programs to help build a strong economic legacy.
EKΩ Membership Committee Chair Anesia Hayes said, “We are so excited to celebrate today because this marks the 115th year of scholarship, service, and sisterhood for this illustrious organization. What better way to light up Milwaukee, than to do it with PINK and GREEN lights on the Hoan Bridge!”

Pictured at the lighting are EKΩ Vice President Toi Lisa Mark-Lockett; EKΩ President Tanzanique Carrington; EKΩ members Elaine Walker, Doris Cahn, Cathy Wanzo, Anesia Hayes, Michelle Hudson; EKΩ members Mildred Lewis, Brenda Thompson, Mariam Tangle, and Martha Griffin.
