Actor Stephen McKinley Henderson is considered one of the top character actors in the country and his glowing performances cover theater, film, and television. He has appeared on stages throughout the US and abroad, on Broadway and off. Most recently you can see him in the big screen films, Dune, and Civil War. Dune is one of six Oscar nominated films he has been in – others being Lady Bird, Manchester by the Sea, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Stephen Spielberg’s Lincoln, and Fences, starring alongside Viola Davis and actor/director Denzel Washington, and his revival role as Pops in the Between Riverside and Crazy (the 2015 Pulitzer Prize winner). His recent TV work includes Halle Berry’s directorial debut Bruised on Netflix, the FX/HULU series Dev, HBO series Everyday People, and PBS American Playhouse film A Raisin in the Sun (starring Danny Glover and Esther Rolle). He had a reoccurring role as a judge on NBC’s Law & Order for 15 seasons and costarred in the Fox series New Amsterdam. McKinley Henderson currently is a Master Teacher at the Ten Chimneys Foundation where he lectured on Friday, July, 26, 2024. He ended his trip to Milwaukee with a visit to American Family Field to throwing out the first pitch.
