In August 2019, Milwaukee native Jason Gordon became the new Executive director of Transitions: Men of Tomorrow and he has big plans for the organization, promising new leadership and new classes, the first of which is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at St. Mark AME Church, 1616 West Atkinson Avenue.

The Men of Tomorrow Program is a tax-exempt, non-profit, charitable youth organization which was established in 1989 in order to provide a comprehensive youth development program to prepare minority males aged 8-18 make a successful transition from youth to adulthood. There have been more than 450 graduates during the program’s 30-year history.

“We try to have a positive impact on young men and provide them with examples of positive, male role models,” Gordon said. “We want to show these young men that there are many more rewarding career opportunities beyond those in entertainment and sports and to hold them to a higher standard of personal accountability than they may have previously experienced.”

Gordon was the sports coordinator for YMCA of Milwaukee before accepting the position as executive director with Men of Tomorrow. He said he has been working with youth for more than 20 years. As a young man growing up within Milwaukee’s 53206 zip code, he said he benefited from being mentored by members of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Gordon said Alpha Phi Alpha had a particularly dramatic impact on him and he subsequently joined the fraternity. He sees his new position with Men of Tomorrow as a way of giving back to the next generation.

“My passion is to ensure that our next generation have success,” he said. “I don’t want them to have to make decisions on the fly about their future. It is easier to create good habits in young men than it is to break bad habits.”

Gordon said regular Men of Tomorrow sessions are typically held on Saturday mornings during the school year and that each session contains a cultural, spiritual, mental and social aspect as well as time for recreation. To enroll, call Gordon at 414- 520-6411 or complete the online enrollment form at the Men of Tomorrow website: www.menoftomorrow.us.
