The “National Take Down Tobacco Day” was recognized on April 1, 2023, at El Bethel COGIC, where the pastor is Rev. Steve Tipton. The purpose of the day was to have youth advocates across the country to come together to call ‘Big Tobacco’s’ bluff and expose them, for they are gambling with the lives of our children. The message was to prevent youth from being fooled into vaping, smoking e-cigarettes and all other flavored tobacco products as well as to encourage those who are using these deadly products to quit. ‘Big tobacco’ wants to fool another generation into addiction. So, youth around the country stood up. Everyone is needed to help in the fight against the tobacco industry and save our youth and communities.
Research with Wisconsin African American Tobacco Prevention Network and Jump at the Sun, LLC. was shared about African American neighborhoods are targeting with tobacco products. There are 45,000 African Americans who die each year from illnesses from menthol tobacco products.
