On Sunday, February 24, 2019, Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church hosted its annual Black History program at the church, 1825 W. Hampton Ave. This year’s Black History Program theme was “Celebrating Women,” and featured a special tribute to music icon Aretha Franklin. As part of the event four outstanding women and church members were honored for their years of service to the community. The honorees were Mother Ardella Tayor, Arlene Newson, the late Mother Zeola Stegall, and State Senator Lena Taylor. The program was hosted by Rev. Dr. Russell B. Williamson.
