BLANK SPACE MILWAUKEE presents
MILWAUKEE’S FIRST EVER MKE BLACK RESTAURANT WEEK
A week committed to highlighting black-owned restaurants and the impact of co-operative economics
Milwaukee – Established by BlankSpaceMKE, MKE Black Restaurant Week will bring awareness to black-owned eateries throughout the greater Milwaukee area during the week of April 17, 2016, with participating restaurants offering their own specials and discounts to consumers. Cities as close as Chicago and as far as Memphis have begun to host similar, weeklong events that aim to support minority-owned businesses and strengthen communities. From April 17 through the 23, Milwaukee and surrounding area communities will be encouraged to support black-owned businesses and get to know the owners who manage the establishments, building on the momentum current programs like Recycle the Black Dollar and All Black Everything have garnered.
MKE Black Restaurant Week is also an opportunity to demonstrate the power of cooperative economics and the result strategic spending can have – specifically this week – on local restaurants. BlackSpaceMKE believes that by supporting black-owned restaurants (and other local businesses) our community can make a significant impact on strengthening communities and creating new opportunities for future entrepreneurs.
