Street renamed in honor of Cherreye J. Trotman

On Wednesday, September 28, 2026, an honorary street renaming and dedication ceremony for Cherrye J. Trotman was held. The program was officiated by Reverend Alex Erdmann and Andrea Williams from TMJ 4 was covering the event. Speakers included: Bishop Ricky Burt, Reverend Doctor Joy Gallmon, Pastor Joshua Taylor, Attorney Sheila Parrish Spence, Alderwoman Andrea Pratt, Cream City Links President Ms. Berthena Brister, retired school principal Yvonne McCaskill, Dr. Enid Trotman MD, Edwina Beanum and Elix Sims. Committee members Dr. Christlyn Frederick Stanley, Tammy Banks and Pam Childs were also in attendance. Members of the Cream City Links, the Top Ladies of Distinction, Alabama State Alumni Association,former coworkers, former students, former Girl Scouts, church members, neighbors and friends were also in attendance. It was a beautiful tribute for Cherrye J. Trotman.


The honorary designation spans from North 20th Street to North Teutonia Avenue, located within the city’s 1st Aldermanic District. A group of friends, family, and city leaders introduced the resolution in April of this year. The legislative process for this designation concluded with its final approval on June 23, 2026.
