Pieces of a Dream

The 5th Annual Alexander Zonjic’s Shoreline Jazz Festival featuring headliners Rachelle Ferrell, Alexander Zonjic and Friends with special guest Maysa, Pieces of a Dream, David Benoit and Marc Antoine, Jonathan Butler and Kim Waters, along with four days of music by the top musicians in contemporary jazz, funk and soul returns to Heritage Landing in Muskegon, Michigan, on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan, August 23 through 26.

This world class musical event kicked off for the first time four years ago with a huge success. It is the dream child of nationally known jazz flutist Alexander Zonjic who has been a major force and beloved performer in the world of contemporary jazz for more than three decades. The festival is presented by DTE Energy.

This year’s exciting line-up of musicians also includes The Rance Allen Group, 11 year old jazz piano sensation Justin Schultz and the JLS Experience, Project Grand Slam, as well as the Rick Hicks Band.

The festival also includes special additional musical events on Thursday August 23, Friday, August 24 and Saturday, August 25 after hours.

“This all started when I came across Heritage Landing in Muskegon. I was struck with the beauty of the setting, the stage and the grounds. I knew this was the ideal location for a celebration of contemporary jazz, soul and funk, offering the opportunity for fans to see their favorite performers, at one time, in one beautiful place, with the Lake Michigan sunsets as a backdrop,” said Zonjic.

The popular vacation area is within easy driving distance of Milwaukee.

Saturday and Sunday, August 24 and 25, Heritage Landing

General admission to the Alexander Zonjic’s Shoreline Jazz Festival is only $35 per day. (Bring your own lawn chair) and two day tickets are available for $60. A limited number of preferred seats are available for $60 per day and two day preferred tickets are available for $110. Preferred seats are closest to the stage with chairs provided. Thursday, August 23 – Preview Concert featuring Alexander Zonjic and his Band with special guest 11 year old jazz pianist Justin Schultz along with his sister Jamie Schultz on the drums, father Julius Schultz on bass and Kris Kurzawa on guitar. It starts at 7:30 p.m. at The Block , 360 W Western Ave, 2nd Floor, Muskegon. For tickets call 231-726-3231 or go to theblockwestmichigan.org.

Friday, August 24 – Jazz in the Park, featuring Organissimo and Lady Sunshine and the X Band, 5 – 9 p.m., Hackley Park, Downtown, Muskegon, free to the public

Saturday, August 25- After Party Jam, Holiday Inn Main Ballroom from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. featuring Alexander Zonjic and his band jamming along with the many festival performers who will drop by. Tickets are just $25.
