Louise McGrew Bracey was born on April 18, 1922, in Yazoo, Mississippi, to the union of the late Isaac and Leanna (Cowan) McGrew. Louise accepted Christ at an early age in Mississippi, and when she moved to Milwaukee, became a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained faithful in attendance until her health would no longer permit her to do so.
