On Friday April 7, 2023, the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. held its 89th Central Regional Conference at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee. The theme of the conference was, “A Confident and Captivating Region Soaring through the Journey of a Lifetime in a Great Place on a Great Lake.” The guest speaker was Judge Mablean Ephriam (upper, right photo) presiding judge on the Emmy- nominated, self-titled show “Justice with Judge Mablean.” The former prosecutor, author, philanthropist and long-time fan favorite graced the audience with her no-nonsense, straight talk. The event was well attended by other fraternities and sororities that evening. As part of the event there was a step show competition and AKA chapters from the region performed along with the Men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
