Courtney Johnson – 35th Annual Black Excellence Awards Honoree

The Dr. Lester L. Carter, Jr. Scholarship Award

Courtney Johnson is a leader at Golda Meir High School, according to the chair of the social studies department at the school who said Courtney demonstrated her leadership skills through her work on student council, student ambassadors, as well as other clubs and leadership activities. She earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.95. “Courtney stood out to me from the day I started at Golda Meir six years ago,” said her school counselor. “She is focused, determined and motivated” and frequently seeks out opportunities to get involved in programs that will assist her in exploring her college and career options. She hopes to major in pre-medicine and has applied to Penn State and the University of Iowa.
