Atkinson neighborhood raises Juneteenth flag to kick off celebrations

On Saturday, June 8, 2024, Xmen United, LLC hosted the “3rd Annual Juneteenth Flag Raising Celebration.” The purpose is to have the symbol of freedom fly inside the community as a constant reminder of what has been fought for in the community and help kick off the forthcoming Juneteenth Day celebrations that will be taking place in the city in the coming weeks. Xmen United, LLC, partnered with Wisconsin Community Services, and the Office of Violence Prevention held the flag raising at Atkinson Triangle Park. The organizer for the event was Torre ‘ToeJoe’ Johnson of Xmen United, LLC, and Wisconsin Community Service.
