On Monday, April 1, 2019, Mahogany CARES, Inc. hosted a special event for International Black Women Heal Day entitled, “Safe Harbor: Stories of Survivors (SOS),” at Aurora Mt. Sinai’s Rapkin Auditorium, 960 N. 12th Street. The event, which was coordinated by Christian Women Perspective Ministries, Inc. founder Dr. Alice L. Belcher, D. Div., M.S., B.A., CDVA, Black Women Heal Day is an international day of healing for Black female survivors of sexual assault.
This year’s presenters included spiritual healing specialist La Soule; playwright and actor Linette Davis; healer, preacher and author Liland Gee; community advocate Cyrena Martin; Aurora Sexual Assault Treatment Center (SANE) Supervisor Sharain Horn; mental health clinician Marrika Rodgers; authors Elizabeth Brown and Amazshea Lee; and inspirational speaker Gigi Y. Boone-Frazier-Young.
