The Milwaukee chapter of the Prince Hall Masonic Foundation held their 33rd Annual Scholarship Banquet on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at their lodge, 600 West Walnut Street. This year’s scholars include: William Walker, Isaiah Gordon, Jada Miller, Shanilah Frierson, Niya Jeter, Michaela Ward, Sylvester Campbell, Candace Nalls, Taylor Brown, Amina Mathews-Hinton, Jaylen Wright, Alyssa Norton, Cameron Robertson, Nyla Mathis, Mayanna Owens, Stephen Hull and Gabrielle Wilson. The Milwaukee Prince Hall Lodge is one of the organization’s more than 5,000 lodges in the United States, Canada, the Bahamas and Liberia and is part of the oldest and largest group of Masons of African origin in the world. They trace their roots back to 1784 when founder Prince Hall, a freeborn Black man and Methodist minister from Barbados, founded the first lodge in Massachusetts.
