On Thursday, July 28, 2016 guests raised a glass in honor
of the difference PEARLS For Teen Girls is making
in the lives of Milwaukee’s young women. The “Cheers!
for PEARLS” fundraiser was hosted by MillerCoors
V.P. Michelle Nettles at Fred’s Pub inside the company’s
Milwaukee headquarters. The keynote speaker was
City of Milwaukee Health Commissioner Bevan Baker,
FACHE, who had a slew of pairings for Guests were
invited to sample an assortment of MillerCoors beverages
and snakes.The event raised more than $16,000
through donations and raffle ticket sales. PEARLS is a
non-profit leadership development program for girls in
grades 5-12th that served 1,603 girls in 2015. Of the girls
who participate in the program, 90 percent graduated
high school; 99.9 percent of girls chose not to get pregnant,
and 89 percent are on track for post-secondary
